The other day, I called to check on my disability claim and was told that a decision was made almost two weeks before. Since it had been so long without the letter arriving, she was allowed to tell me over the phone that the appeal had been denied.
When we checked the mail the next day, we found two letters telling me about the denial. They state that while I have a myriad of physical problems, and am fat, it's not really doing me any harm, and I should be able to work just fine.
Bullspit. They didn't even have me go see one of their doctors.
So I called the lawyer I've been emailing, and I have an appointment to see them on the 30th of November and officially hire the firm. The next step is a hearing of some kind, and thankfully the lawyer's office will set all that up.
I'm so depressed right now, it isn't even funny.

I'm sorry to hear you were denied but honestly...having not seen their doctor is a good thing at this point. It gives them less information for their cases against you. They would have denied you anyway...that's how this works. Our lawyer Gave us a statistic when we were working on Cyndi's tha was well over %50 (though I can't remember the exact percentage) that are denied and must go all the way to the hearing in order to be accepted finally.
A visit to their doctor would have prolonged your case. So I know it's really hard....but try to see it as a good thing. *huge hugs and support*
My brother has epilepsy with grand mal seizures that can't be properly controlled with medication. He's been turned down for disability 3 times b/c they say it doesn't keep him from working. A few years back, he had a seizure at work, fell, cracked his skull open on the tile floor and had to be air lifted to a hospital. Yeah..doesn't prevent him from working. Don't give up.
